SOFTERFIX™ LC type has been designed to adapt to the force engendered by the tension of the bolt whose maximum diameter matches the inside diameter of the limiter - and in the case of SOFTERFIX™ LC type high resistance seriesadapts to even higher force values.

Compression force

Compression force is characterized by the deflection value, measured on the limiter for a given axial force. The data sheets show a value for the maximum force for which the limiter is designed.

For a different standard axial force value, the following formula is used:
Standard deflection = Maximum deflection x standard force / maximum force

Clearance compensation assembly

It is possible to use SOFTERFIX™ LC type with bolts whose inside diameter is smaller than the inside diameter of the limiter that would normally match, so as to allow clearance in assembly adjustment.

Oblong versions, which allow uni-directional clearance compensation, are also available.

WARNING: in these cases, the nut or the bolt head must be of a size which will guarantee that it sits on both the limiter and the plastic part.

In making an assembly, a torque (Cs) is applied to the nut & bolt system so that the force (Fo) clamps the assembly together. For a given torque (Cs) applied, the Fo value depends on the system’s friction coefficient (µ).

The table below (extract from the NF E 25-030 standard: (Fastener elements – Bolted assemblies - Design, calculation and mounting conditions) show the maximum recommended torque (depending on the nut and bolt elements assembled).
