Recommendations for assembly and use

Torque use data is given as a guideline only, and must be adjusted for specific customer applications.
Torques and tensile forces used depend on:
• tube condition: thickness, hardness, internal surface roughness, weld dimensions and cleanliness
• bolt: grade and lubrication

Recommended torque

Recommended torques are available in the ENDFIX® data sheets and correspond to 8.8 grade bolts.
The application of torques in excess of the recommended values must be subject to validation tests. This increased torque will result in more pronounced crimping, which may optimize mechanical strength in certain cases, but will engender visible bulging of the tube.

Tensile force

Guideline tensile force values correspond to the force generating deterioration of the assembly function (values are provided in the data sheets).

This is a destructive test, and is carried out with 12.9 grade bolts.

Recommended torque for applications with bending constraints

For certain specific applications having very high bending constraints, it is recommended to crimp ENDFIX® whilst leaving a gap between it and the tube end. It is recommend to use a spacer, which length should be determined with reference to the application. An extended tie-rod then becomes necessary to crimp the ENDFIX®.
